Parishioners of a Norwalk church spoke out Saturday against the vandalism of a historic site in the city.
Vandals hit the Bandstand on the Green in February, kicking in all 68 of the gazebo's vertical spindles and damaging its main frame. Beer bottles were found strewn across the area as well.
Members of the First Congregational Church use the site as a place of gathering and were upset to learn of its destruction. They say crimes like this have a ripple effect on the community.
The bandstand has since been rebuilt. The congregation says it is trying to show a commitment to strengthening the community by continuing to speak out.
Police have not yet found the responsible parties.
