Three people were arrested at a Norwalk home on charges ranging from larceny to drug possession, before the house caught fire resulting in the death of four pets Wednesday.
Patricia Zamfino, the mother of one of the individuals arrested, said police appeared to be looking for drugs and knocked over items in her son?s room. She said she believes the room caught on fire because police knocked over a heat lamp near her son?s iguana tank.
Zamfino buried four pets Wednesday, including two snakes and two cats. Zamfino and a friend of the family say police and firefighters handled the situation very poorly.
Lieutenant Paul Resnick, of the Norwalk Police Department said in a statement, ?The police chief has been made aware of the allegations, and that this is an active and open investigation being conducted by the Norwalk Police Department and the Norwalk Fire Department.?
Two cats are missing from the home.
