Norwalk kicks off Stamp Out Hunger food drive

Postal workers were on hand at the post office in Norwalk Friday morning to kick off the 2025 Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
This is the 33rd anniversary of the event, the largest one-day food drive in the nation.
Each year on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the country collect non-perishable food donations which go to local food pantries.
People are asked to leave non-perishable food donations in a bag by their mailbox for letter carriers to collect.
In Norwalk, donations will benefit local food pantry Person to Person.
Postal workers say the collection makes it easy for everyone to participate.
"They can just put the bags out and they don't have to worry about it," said city letter carrier Carroll Johnson. "I have a lot of elderly people that can't get out, that can't lift stuff so we will take it for them and it benefits everybody. It's a win-win."
