Norwalk has launched a citywide Christmas tree pickup for the first time in the city's history, according to Mayor Harry Rilling.
Rilling says Christmas trees will be collected throughout January based on residents’ snowplow routes.
The city has released a helpful map divided into three sections in which trees will be collected.
Tree collection will begin on Jan. 9, north of Connecticut Avenue and west of Route 7.
City officials say residents should have their Christmas trees placed curbside by 6:00 a.m. on the Monday of their collection week.
The collection schedule does not include residents from the 6th Taxing District, since they are privately serviced for this collection.
Trees will be collected until Jan. 23.
