One person is in the hospital and another is on the run after a shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Norwalk, police said. It happened on Fairfield Avenue by Golden Hill Street around 7:20 p.m. Saturday.
Police said officers responded to a 911 call and found the victim on the sidewalk in front of the complex, though the incident happened in the back. He'd been shot in the stomach.
"Our officers provided medical aid to the victim, who was then transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment," said Lt. Tomasz Podgorski.
The victim immediately went into surgery and was stable at last check, according to police.
Officers on scene learned the shooter had run off so police set up a perimeter and searched the area, calling in one of the department's K9s. Police said they found two shell casings near the shooting location but couldn't release a suspect description.
"That aspect is still under investigation. Our detectives are canvassing the area and checking surveillance footage to determine that," Podgorski told News 12.
He could not comment on the motive but said this was an isolated incident, not random. Podgorski also said while the investigation continues, officers are doing proactive patrols in the area.
