Three days after a New Haven police sergeant was killed in a traffic accident, the Norwalk Police Department had a close call of its own. A Norwalk officer is recovering after crashing a police cruiser into a utility pole Friday morning. The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Ely Avenue, near the corner of Adamson Avenue. Police say the officer wasn't badly hurt, but is being evaluated at Norwalk Hospital. Crews from Connecticut Light and Power were called to repair the pole.
