Residents of one Norwalk neighborhood say the highway noise is disturbing their quality of life, and finally one senator is responding.Residents of Olmstead Place say they shouldn?t have to yell to have a conversation outside of their homes. They say for years, their complaints have fallen on deaf ears. Now, Norwalk state Senator Bob Duff (D-Norwalk) is pushing for sound barriers around neighborhoods that border 1-95. Duff will introduce a new bill Monday asking the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) to fund sound barriers. The DOT estimates the barriers will cost about $1 million per mile, but neighbors say it's worth it.Duff says he wants to present as much testimony as possible to the DOT committee and is urging all Norwalk residents who have complaints about the noise to write or call him.
