A 19-year-old girl from Seymour was fatally shot during a graduation celebration in New York Friday night, according to the NYPD.
It happened at Shoelace Park in the Bronx borough of New York City around 11 p.m. Friday.
The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Tyanna Johnson, of Seymour, Connecticut.
Police say two males had exited a silver BMW and then opened fire on the graduation party. "This should have been a joyous occasion, but instead it turned into a nightmare," NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said in a tweet.
Johnson was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Three others were injured in the shooting -- a 15-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 24-year-old.
The NYPD has released video in connection with the incident. Police describe Johnson as an innocent bystander who was believed to have been "caught in the gunfire and not the intended target."
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
