A 50-year-old attorney from New Rochelle, New York has tested positive for coronavirus, Westchester County Executive George Latimer confirmed.

Officials say the man is listed in serious condition at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center in Manhattan with an underlying respiratory illness.

This is the second confirmed case of the coronavirus in New York state.

Officials say it appears the man did not travel to China or any countries that are affected by the disease. And it is not known if he took public transportation to work.

His family, including two children, are under quarantine at their home. Doctors believe the incubation period is 14 days.

Westchester County Health Commissioner Dr. Sherlita Amler says she just learned of this case early Tuesday morning.

"Right now, we need to do this investigative phase to see who might have been impacted and where did this come from," said Amler.

Gov. Ned Lamont says there have been no reported cases in Connecticut and says he is in touch with regional partners regarding the virus. He also says to frequently wash hands and avoid shaking hands with people.

Health officials say 80% of people with the coronavirus feel like they have a bad cold or the flu. But some, like this latest case, require hospitalization.
