JCP&L has more than 2,500 line workers repairing downed power lines as outages fall to about 15,000 in its service area.
Crews continue working across Ocean County after more than 60 trees came down during the blizzard.
Dozens of line trucks were staged behind a Kohl’s at the Toms River Plaza as workers finished an eight‑hour rest break. JCP&L said crews have headed out for another 16‑hour shift to continue repairs.
The utility said 75% of customers had power restored. Many of the remaining outages were in Toms River. County officials said water and ice were available at ACME stores and most ShopRite locations.
Crews from Kalkaska County, Michigan, were helping JCP&L teams, and workers from Pennsylvania arrived today.
JCP&L said years of upgrades included stronger poles and wiring designed to withstand storm damage.
JCP&L spokesperson Chris Hoenig said some customers may receive restoration notices before their service is actually back. “There may be additional damage on that line that goes from the pole to your house,” he said. He urged customers in that situation to resubmit their outage.
