Officials say four people were accused of assaulting police officers in Newark.
Police say they were patrolling Fabyan Place and Cypress Street in response to recent gun violence.
They say one man was suspected of having a gun, and when they tried to bust him, two of the suspect's brothers assaulted the officers.
Newark's director of public safety commended the officers for showing restraint.
