Fire officials say a cigarette may have caused a three-alarm fire at a Stamford condominium complex.
The fire broke out Wednesday night at the Waterside Green complex on Southfield Avenue. Flames raged for roughly an hour before it was put out. About 46 firefighters responded to the scene.
Fire officials say it was possibly caused by a discarded cigarette or some other kind of smoking material that was thrown into the wood chips underneath a bush, which caused the bush to catch fire.
Five adults and two children were left homeless by the fire.
