Officials in Stamford met Tuesday to discuss plans to bring new speed humps to streets throughout the city.
The city has had a ban on new speed humps for the past several years, but traffic engineers want to start allowing them again.
The city's Transportation Committee discussed what the new rules for the speed humps would be.
Officials say speed humps can have an impact on traffic patterns in addition to speeds.
"We've seen over the years, in fact, it causes people to make different choices about what route they're going to take," Stamford traffic bureau chief Joshua Benson says.
City officials say they will be strict about approving any new traffic humps. They say they are also looking at alternative ways to slow down traffic.
