Officials say a fire ripped through a raised ranch home in Norwalk Saturday night.
Firefighters say they were called to the scene on Ravenwood Road just before 9 p.m. They accessed the house through the garage to search for occupants.
"They made an initial attack, but the fire was pretty heavy," said Deputy Chief Stephen Shay. "When the ceiling started fall out, they were pulled back and we went into defense mode until the fire was knocked down."
The home is occupied by a renter who was not on the scene at the time of the fire.
Multiple trucks were called to battle the blaze. There were no personnel injuries.
The home has been deemed uninhabitable.
A preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire points to an electrical failure. The investigation is ongoing.
