A Greenwich man is in custody after federal drug enforcement agents say they recovered more than 65 pounds of heroin.
The US Drug Enforcement Administration's New York Division says Jorge Ayala, of Greenwich, and Fernando Quiles, of Texas, were taken into custody Tuesday in New York.
DEA officials say an investigation determined Ayala and Quiles were smuggling heroin from Mexico in a truck axle.
Officials say the suspects intended to sell the drugs for nearly $2.3 million.
They say the amount seized would have yielded more than half a million individual doses of heroin.
