The historic Hearthstone Castle in Danbury is one step closer to being demolished.
The city council has endorsed a plan to tear down the 19th century fortress, saying it has become a safety hazard.
The three-story, 16-room home was built in 1899 and acquired by the city in 1985, but has since fallen into disrepair.
Voters will decide the future of the castle in a referendum this November.
