Local and state leaders gathered at the proposed site of the Barnum Station in Bridgeport this afternoon to celebrate a $10 million federal planning grant.
The new station would serve both Metro-North and Amtrack trains.
Officials say a second train station in the city will be a springboard for business and economic investment.
The plans still need final approvals, but officials say they hope to have the station built in four to five years.
