Eversource officials: Social security numbers possibly stolen in hack that targeted vendor used by the company
A hack attack had electric company Eversource caught in the crossfire.
The hack attack called "move it," targeted hundreds of companies and organizations worldwide including a vendor that Eversource uses to administer solar incentives and electric grid upgrade programs.
About 1,400 Connecticut customers recently received a notice saying personal information such as social security numbers could have been taken during the hack.
New protective measures were put in place to safeguard customer information, officials say.
No other information has been revealed at this time.
