Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has announced that the state, along with nine other states and the Department of Justice, has joined an amended complaint filing in an antitrust lawsuit against six of the country's largest landlords.
The lawsuit alleges that these landlords used algorithmic pricing schemes to suppress competition and increase costs for millions of renters.
Three landlords listed in the lawsuit, Greystar, Pinnacle, and Willow Bridge, operate in Connecticut.
According to Tong, rent is "completely unaffordable and out of control right now." He claims that the lawsuit aims to hold these landlords accountable for their allegedly unfair pricing practices.
