The town of Stratford celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony for some young entrepreneurs Wednesday.
The
M.C. Green Brothers Market started selling candy, snacks, juice and water in their neighborhood last year as a way to learn math during the pandemic.
The business is now officially an LLC and is registered with the state. It's run by 8-year-old Messiah Green and 5-year-old Malachi Green.
"This is teaching him how to be an entrepreneur, this is teaching him how to contribute to his brother, how to help out his mother, how to help his family," said Heather Washington, a cousin.
"It's really affirming that people, kids are learning to work hard to get ahead, to do something that they want to do, and he's providing a great service to the neighborhood. So, I wish him a lot of luck," said Stratford Mayor Laura Hoydick.
The outdoor market is located on Columbus Avenue.
