Cash-checking venues in the Bronx and across New York City were overrun Wednesday by parents waiting to receive $200 for school supplies from the state.

On Tuesday, Gov. David Paterson announced the money was deposited directly on the EBT accounts of families receiving public assistance. The announcement prompted many residents to hurry up and take advantage of the benefit before it expires.

Tellers at Pay-O-Matic on White Plains Road ran out of cash and were forced to give out money orders to parents.

Some 275,000 families in New York City are eligible to participate in the program, which will benefit 500,000 children.
