A Pawling woman who admitted to assaulting protesters during an anti-ICE demonstration has been sentenced to jail.

Annette Strehle, 53, pleaded guilty to attempted assault in the second degree and two counts of criminal mischief stemming from a confrontation at a peaceful protest in January.

According to the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office, Strehle shoved a demonstrator over the age of 65, causing the victim to fall backward.

Prosecutors said she also ripped glasses from two protesters and crushed them.

District Attorney Anthony Parisi said the case involved "an act of violence against individuals who were lawfully exercising their rights," adding that the victims' ages made the attack especially troubling.

Strehle was sentenced to six months in the Dutchess County Justice and Transitions Center, followed by five years of probation.

Full orders of protection were also issued for all victims.
