The Pequot Library in Southport is featuring [Her]story: Women's Roles Through History exhibit in honor of Women's History Month.
The exhibit includes portraits of historical women on full display for the community to see.
"I'd like to think it'd be very inspirational that they would see what all these amazing women were up to, especially when they were living in a time of great oppression," Chief Librarian Christine Catallo says.
The exhibit highlights the roles women have held and hold throughout history and looks specifically at women related to the history of Pequot Library.
Catallo says one of the most important women featured in the exhibit is Virgina Marquand Monroe.
Monroe founded the library in 1889 in memory of her uncle Frederick Marquand who dedicated it to the people of Southport.
The exhibition also features the works of women who are part of the library's special collections.
The exhibit will run through May 9.
