Plans to bring new affordable housing complex to Woodbridge face strong opposition at meeting

"The average cost of a house in Woodbridge is $450,000. That's a problem for ordinary people who do critically important jobs, such as police officers, teachers and firefighters. They need someplace to live," Weeks said.

There were tense moments at a Woodbridge Plan and Zoning Commission meeting Monday night, where residents expressed strong opposition to plans to build a 96-unit multifamily apartment complex at 804 Fountain St.
Rob Rosasco and Carol Levarek said they oppose the plan because it would have a negative impact on the environment and create "dangerous traffic-flow problems."
"Our goal is to balance conservation and affordable house, and to do so well - and this plan doesn't get us there," Rosasco told News 12.
Peter Weeks said he supports the plan.
"The average cost of a house in Woodbridge is $450,000. That's a problem for ordinary people who do critically important jobs, such as police officers, teachers and firefighters. They need someplace to live," Weeks said.
The meeting gave commissioners an opportunity to hear additional input about the project from the developer, but nothing was decided, officials said.
