The body of a missing Brooklyn man was found in a Connecticut park last weekend, according to the Norwich Police Department.

Martin Wright, 44, was a former professional boxer known in his community for teaching at local gyms. He was first reported missing by his family in January.

In April, his brother, 46-year-old McMillian Wright, was arrested in Binghamton, New York on several charges including possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance. He was extradited back to Brooklyn where he is now facing charges for murder and concealment of a human corpse.

Norwich police say the body of the former boxer was found in a shallow grave on May 7 in Mohegan Park and it appeared to have been dumped there.

Police believe Wright had been killed inside his apartment in January shortly.

Following his brother’s arrest, Wright’s children had been pleading with their uncle to reveal the location of the body.

“It definitely took us off guard just hearing that his brother could be the one to kill his own brother,” said Wright’s daughter Staraisha Perez.

Despite the pain of losing their father, the discovery of his body has given them a sense of closure.

McMillian Wright is due back in court on June 12.
