Bridgeport police charged a local man with animal cruelty after he allegedly left four puppies in a car in the sweltering heat.
They say Onnie Canady, 54, left the dogs unattended in a hot car parked on Main Street Tuesday.
Jennifer Wallace, the city's chief animal control officer, says the four puppies are now doing fine.
Officials say a city parking officer found the puppies, which are just 8 to 10 weeks old. They were treated at Bridgeport Veterinary Hospital for slight dehydration.
Canady is due to appear in court on Aug. 23.
