Milford police were called to Dick's Sporting Goods for suspect shoplifting Wednesday night.
An employee told police Oscar Rosado-Nazario, a known shoplifter, was acting suspiciously.
Rosado-Nazario left the store by the time officers arrived, but was stopped in the Walmart parking lot.
When police stopped the vehicle, they found a machete, narcotics and two fake guns inside.
Rosado-Nazario was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle and possession of narcotics.
He is expected to appear in Milford Superior Court on Feb. 14.
