Police say a Bridgeport man stabbed his mother with a samurai sword.
Police say they believe Diamond Garvins, 28, was high on PCP when he stabbed his mother, who managed to fight him off despite being stabbed in the face and body.
Garvins then fled with his dog to a friend's house in Stratford, and when the friend noticed that the dog was covered in blood, Garvins was unable to explain why, according to police.
The victim's daughter came home to find her mother in a pool of blood.
Police Chief AJ Perez says the victim was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital in critical condition, but is expected to recover.
