Stamford police believe they are close to making an arrest in the murder of William James.
Police say William "Buttons" James, 46, was fatally shot last Thursday night on Pacific Street. Officials say the shooter came up behind James and shot him in the head.
Police say they are now 99 percent sure they know who the killer is, and believe that the suspect knew the victim and targeted him.
James' mother says she is relieved to hear that police are making progress in the case, but she is devastated by her son's death.
Police could not say how soon they plan to make an arrest.
