One person is dead following a crash on Route 8 Friday night near Exit 12 in Shelton, according to police.

The car hit a tree, causing one of the passengers, Jarvis Jones, to be ejected from the vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Another passenger suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
