Police: Fairfield man charged with attacking two with a hammer

The first victim was hit with a hammer and taken to Bridgeport Hospital with back and head injuries, according to authorities.

A Fairfield man is facing charges following a domestic violence incident with a hammer, police say.
Police responded to a home on Kings Highway at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Upon their arrival, officers found Angel Cortes in the driveway.
Police say Cortes entered the home and assaulted two people that he knew.
The first victim was hit with a hammer and taken to Bridgeport Hospital with back and head injuries, according to authorities.
A second victim tried to intervene during the attack was also hit in the shoulder. They refused medical attention.
Cortes is being held on a $60,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court Friday,
