Police across the state say they are focusing on truck safety this month and they're pointing at an early morning accident in Greenwich as to why it is so important.
A truck apparently lost control this morning on Interstate 95 southbound between exits 4 and 5 in Greenwich. Police say the truck spilled boxes across the roadway and backed up traffic for 20 miles until the accident was finally cleared around noon. No one was hurt in the accident, according to officials.
Police say they're looking for truck drivers using cell phones, not wearing seat belts or operating unsafely. They say that any driver caught breaking the law will be pulled over and the truck and driver will undergo a safety inspection before being let back onto the road.
