Bridgeport police say an 11-year-old girl and her dog were hit by two cars Tuesday night.
Maria Morales says her daughter ran out of their apartment at 671 Capitol Ave., chasing her dog that had run onto the street. That's when she was grazed by two cars.
Johanny Morales says a tire ran over her left hand, and her dog was critically hurt. Police say she was taken to the hospital and released, but her dog will require surgery for two broken legs.
The elder Morales says she's lucky her daughter is still alive, and she's equally upset that the two drivers involved fled the scene.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family pay for some veterinary bills for their dog's surgery.
