Police say a New Canaan homeowner had his hands and feet bound last night while intruders searched his home for valuables. Investigators say two or three suspects broke into a home on Ponus Ridge Road and tied up the homeowner with rope. One of the suspects may have a had a gun, as the homeowner told police that one of the intruders pressed something metal against the back of his head. The homeowner was uninjured, and police say the suspects fled when they heard approaching police sirens. Detectives brought in search dogs today that traced the suspects' scent to a nearby side street, where they may have had a getaway car waiting. Police say they are investigating whether the home invasion is linked to similar incidents that have been reported in neighboring towns over the past year. Anyone with information is urged to call New Canaan police at (203) 594-3500.
