New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski announced on Monday that the department is close to launching a new program to target underage drinking at parties.
Police say they broke up a party with a lot of alcohol over the weekend. Krolikowski says the party's host and another teen were both arrested.
Krolikoski says officers also received the names of several other teens who attended the party. Police will evaluate whether to offer those teens the chance to be a part of the department's new diversionary program.
The program will offer those found with alcohol at underage parties the option to attend educational workshops with their parents.
Krolikowski says it's part of the department's new focus on breaking up these parties in order to stop the flow of alcohol and drugs among New Canaan teens.
