The Fairfield Police Department is conducting traffic stops along Post Road Friday.
Despite the fact the law requires drivers to wear a seatbelt and refrain from talking on handheld cell phones, police say some people just don't listen. Police started their traffic stops around 11 a.m. and they've pulled over close a dozen people, most for cell phone violations.
Police say they'll continue to conduct similar traffic stops at different locations throughout Fairfield through the start of 2007. A cell phone violation will cost residents $100 while not wearing a seatbelt will cost $37.
