Bridgeport police have made an arrest in the death of a man who was found shot in a burning SUV.
The family of 29-year-old Jason Nieves says they can't look at a picture of him without flashing right back to June 7, the day of his death. But the relatives say it got a little bit easier knowing that police have arrested 62-year-old Larry Tinsley for his alleged role in the crime.
Investigators say Tinsley has admitted that he was paid about $350 to pour gasoline on Nieves's body hours after he was shot to death while sitting in his car. Police say Tinsley claims it was somebody else who actually ignited the body.
Police say it was in fact at least two other men who planned the killing and carried it out, shooting Nieves, and then returning hours later in an effort to destroy the evidence by burning the body and the car. They say they hope to soon arrest the other men in the case.
In the meantime, the family hopes that nobody else will ever have to endure the kind of pain they're going through now.
Tinsley's bond was set at $250,000.
