Bridgeport police have made an arrest for the April 12 slaying of Michael Gaines.

They say 23-year-old Nelson Perez is charged with shooting Gaines in the head on the corner of East Main and Arctic streets.

Gaines was a well-known member of the community.

Perez is expected in court Friday.
