Fairfield police say a man is behind bars after a home invasion in Fairfield that happened Thursday night.

Authorities say a juvenile called to report that a man had broken into his home with a knife and that his mother had locked herself in a closet.

Officers say Osborne Hewitt and the woman had previously dated and he was upset over her new relationship.

Hewitt had left the scene before officers arrived.

Police say they arrested him nearby without incident.
