Police say a man was fatally shot in Waterbury Monday afternoon.

Officers responding to reports of gunshots found an injured dog and took it to an animal hospital. While officers were investigating that incident, a man with several gunshot wounds was dropped off at Waterbury Hospital.

He later died.

Waterbury police are looking into whether the two shootings are connected.
