Investigators in Bridgeport say they discovered a man's body lying in front of a house on the city's West Side.
Police say 51-year-old Ivan Rodriguez Mendez was pronounced dead at the scene on Seeley Street.
Witnesses say Mendez got into a fight with one or more people, one of whom had a knife. They also say several shots were fired during the altercation.
The exact cause of Mendez's death remains unclear. Police say an autopsy will be conducted Monday to determine if he was shot or stabbed to death.
Friends say Mendez was originally from Puerto Rico, and that he had lived in Bridgeport for about six years.
The case marks Bridgeport's 10th homicide so far this year.
