Bridgeport police say they're searching for witnesses Wednesday to a deadly double shooting in the city's east side.
Police say 37-year-old Frederick Richardson, who was known to friends as Paco, was sitting in his friend's parked car on Noble Avenue near the intersection of Maple Street around 11 p.m. Tuesday when someone wearing a mask walked up to the vehicle, opened fire and ran off.
Investigators say Richardson and the driver were both hit, but the driver was able to take them to Bridgeport Hospital, where Richardson was pronounced dead. They say the driver suffered an injury that was not life-threatening and is expected to be OK.
Police are calling the homicide an execution and say they've been investigating the disappearance of the victim's father, 69-year-old Fred Richardson, who was last seen in early May. Now they're looking into whether the two events are connected.
Neighbors say the victim lived on Noble Avenue and was a nice guy who kept to himself. Police say he had no criminal record.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to call police.
