Bridgeport police say that a man is facing charges after leaving a 3-year-old boy in a car overnight.
Police say 22-year-old Jeffrey Mejias was arrested for risk of injury to a child.
Neighbor Desire Rodriguez says she didn't know the boy lived nearby. She says she found the boy hysterically crying inside the car.
She took the boy out and tried to comfort him, and called the police.
"He came to me automatically and I just sat there," she said. "I went upstairs to my house to get a blanket because he was soaked. I just waited for the EMTs and the police department to show up."
Police say Mejias admitted he was drunk and that he got a flat tire, so he left his car and the child inside it, walked home and fell asleep.
Police say he is out on bond this evening.
