A Manchester man has been identified as the person accused of making anti-Muslim calls and targeting mosques across Connecticut, Vernon police said.

Jason Biggar is accused of targeting the Islamic Center of Vernon, the Bridgeport Islamic Community Center, the Farmington Valley American Muslim Center, the Islamic Center of Connecticut and Masjid Samiya.

He was arrested on July 1 and charged with harassment, breach of peace and intimidation.

Biggar's arrest warrant states a man received two phone calls from Biggar on June 20 and June 23. During the calls, Biggar made multiple derogatory and offensive remarks targeting the man and his religion. His arrest warrant states that during one of the calls, Biggar physically threatened the man.

Following the calls, the man told police he was concerned for his safety and those who visited the Islamic Center of Vernon. The man then filed a harassment complaint against Biggar.

When police confronted him at his home, Biggar denied making the calls.

Police would learn through an investigation that Biggar called the Bridgeport Islamic Community Center and made similar disparaging remarks.

Biggar was held on a $100,000 bond and was expected to appear in court Thursday.
