Police: Norwalk father dies attempting to save children from drowning

A 26-year-old Norwalk man died on Labor Day in New Milford after a rescuing his children from almost drowning.

A 26-year-old Norwalk man died on Labor Day in New Milford after a rescuing his children from almost drowning.
Victor Garcia and his family spent the holiday at Candlewood Shores Community beach when he noticed his children needed help in the water.
Garcia was able to bring his 6-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter to shore before going under water.
News 12 is told a family member pulled the Norwalk man out and New Milford officers performed CPR until EMS crews arrived.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the hospital.
His children were treated and released from another hospital. Police say they are expected to physically be OK.
