Police in Bridgeport say one person was shot in the leg Wednesday night in the area of Blackham School.

Police were canvassing the area of Amsterdam Avenue and Thorme Street last night trying to find those responsible.

According to officials, around six shots were fired from inside a vehicle, hitting the victim in the leg.

Officials say they recovered shell casings outside of the school.

They say the victim was taken to a hospital in a private car.

There is no word on his condition.

Police are trying to figure out what led up to the shooting.

The investigation is still active.
