Darien police are asking for the public's help tracking down the men who stole scratch-off lottery tickets from several gas stations across southwestern Connecticut.
One of the spots targeted by thieves was the Exxon gas station on Boston Post Road.
Exxon employee Sam Challah says he was at the station last Tuesday when a man walked in, wandered around the store a bit, and asked for $240 worth of lottery tickets. Challah says as soon as he put the tickets on the counter, the man took the tickets and ran away.
Police believe another man is connected to the incident and say the two men went to the Gulf station just down the road and cashed some of the tickets.
They say the Exxon incident may also be related to other lottery ticket thefts that have happened throughout the surrounding area, including Trumbull, Ridgefield and Norwalk.
"We then learned that a similar suspect fitting the same description did the same type of thefts from Bethel, Trumbull and Ridgefield," says Detective Mark Cappelli.
Darien police are asking anyone with information on the thefts to contact them.
