Officials say a homeowner accused in the shooting death of a Madison native killed near the University of South Carolina will not face charges.
According to officials, Nicholas Anthony Donofrio, 20, a student at USC, attempted to enter the gunman’s home by repeatedly knocking, banging and kicking the front door while trying to open it.
Officials say when Donofrio broke the front door glass to reach inside, the homeowner shot him once in the chest.
Investigators say the student lived on the same street and believe he mistakenly went to the wrong home.
Officials determined that the incident was a justifiable homicide.
