Police: Stamford man threatened to bomb bank
Police say the financial meltdown may have proven too much for a Stamford resident who was arrested Tuesday for threatening to blow up a local bank that handles his investments.
According to authorities, 60-year-old Steven Montalvo was taken into custody after employees of a bank in downtown Stamford say he threatened to blow up the branch and gun down everyone inside Saturday.
Police say the man has been involved in previous disputes with bank employees over the way his investments were being handled.
?The employees were genuinely frightened for their safety,? says Lt. Sean Cooney, of the Stamford Police Department.
Montalvo is being held on $150,000 bail. He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning.
