Police say a resident was tricked into wiring over $400,000 to a fake email account after attempting to purchase a home in Fairfield County.

Stamford police are warning the public about a local money scam. 
They say a resident was tricked into wiring over $400,000 to a fake email account after attempting to purchase a home in Fairfield County. 
This scam is often referred to as a business email compromise. 
The FBI was able to recover and return the money to the victim’s account.
